Soles4Soules X Challenge Family
CHALLENGEFAMILY organises dozens of triathlons worldwide and CHALLENGEST.PÖLTEN is a great example of one of these races. Those races all have an impact on the triathlon world. “As a brand we want to become as sustainable as possible,” explains CEO Jort Vlam. “Last year we found a wonderful partner in Soles4Souls and it’s great to see that we can now welcome them in St. Pölten. In this way, we hope to contribute to make every race a more sustainable place.”
This weekend, athletes can dispose of their used shoes and clothes at the specially designated place at CHALLENGEST.PÖLTEN, something that provides several advantages. “It increases sustainability, because by putting unwanted shoes and clothing to good use, textiles are kept out of landfills. It increases health because shoes and clothes prevent injuries and illnesses and they provide dignity to people in need, and it increases opportunities because micro-entrepreneurs sell shoes and clothing to build businesses and support their families”, stated by Soles4Souls.
Yvonne van Vlerken was really excited about this initiative. „We have so many clothes and shoes at home and nobody can’t wear them all. I packed everything I found and don’t need. I am really happy to donate 20 pairs of shoes“, tells Yvonne. „My husband was scared I’ll take all his shoes“, she laughts. Many athletes followed Yvonne and dropped of a lot of shoes and clothes. Boxes also will be put next tot he start area on race day.
