“For me, being allowed to do triathlon means quality of life and vitality, but it must never be the content or centre of life.”

Alexander Frühwirth is a Lower Austrian well-known triathlete. The multiple state champion is testimonial of the Challenge St. Pölten and talked to us about his love for sport.

“The beauty of this sport is to explore the limits of the body in nature and with nature,” says Alexander, who lives in Lower Austria. The multiple state champion is regarded as one of the best long distance triathletes in Austria. Before he came to triathlon, he was a biathlet for several years. At the age of 25, he switched to triathlon and remains loyal to it until today. Alexander starts for URC Sparkasse Langenlois and has qualified himself several times for the World Championships in Hawaii and also achieved many wins and great placings at other competitions.

At the race in St. Pölten he was already at the startline of the first edition in 2003 and since then, he startet that often that he has earned a slot for a life-time. We are happy that Alexander is also at the start of the Challenge St. Pölten in 2020 and that he does this sport with as much love and joy as we.

“The great thing about the competitions is that I don’t need huge stadiums or halls, or have to build environmentally destructive slopes. On the contrary, events like in St. Pölten show us the most beautiful places in the world and support and promote these regions through their cooperation with the people who live, work and have their home there”.
